Highlights

"When The Shutter Closes," a solo exhibition by art photographer Daphne Alexis Ho, addresses a profound question: does an image truly end when the shutter is released? By treating photographs as physical objects that carry the traces of time, Ho challenges the traditional perception of photography as a static record, inviting viewers to engage with the evolving nature of art.

Program

The exhibition showcases three interconnected series:

  • TEAR: Through the act of tearing and repairing, Ho highlights the resilience of the image. The sutures of the torn photographs are accentuated with gold powder, balancing the aesthetic of damage with the beauty of restoration.
  • UNSTILL: These works feature monochromatic landscapes punctuated by scattered white, black-gold, and black-silver pigments. These interventions introduce a sense of flux, blurring the lines between captured reality and abstract movement.
  • STILL: Serving as the emotional anchor, this series invites viewers to pause and observe, treating each photograph not as a destination, but as a beginning of a contemplative process.
